Boys take State!

Abbey supported her brothers by watching their games from the van. :)

Jeremy and Matthew headed off to Reno, NV early Friday morning to play for State the following day. It was a scramble to get them out the door. They put their football stuff in the washer late the night before and then settled down to a movie while it was washing. Jeremy fell asleep before the movie was over. Matthew went to get the stuff from the washer to put it in the dryer and Jeremy half asleep told him they didn't have time to dry their football stuff. Matthew thought the remark was kind of strange but didn't question it. He took the football uniforms out of the washer and layed them on chairs in the living room to dry. A little while later Jeremy woke up to go to bed and grabbed his wet football uniform and put it in his football bag with all the gear. When they woke up the next morning he wondered why all his stuff was in his bag wet. Matthew told him the story and he said, "and you listened to me!" Needless to say, he didn't have time to dry them and they were still wet when they got to Reno and practiced in the snow! He said he was freezing!

The game started out nice with us leading by quite a bit but after half time it got to be only an eight point lead by us. We ended up being victorious in the end. Jeremy played really well and made some really good plays. He blocked a punt that kept the other team from scoring, recovered a fumble in the end zone thereby making a touch down! He also sacked the quarter back in the last minute of the game. Steve and I weren't able to go to the game so we listened to it on the internet. It was so exciting! Because Matthew is only a Freshman he didn't get any playing time in this game. Jacob has been playing Middle School football and has been one of the water boys for the High School team. Tonight we will all caravan around town following the bus with all the football players, honking our horns and screaming. People will be out in their yards and on their porches waving and screaming for the team. The ambulance and the sheriff vehicles will lead with sirens roaring. We are really proud of the boys and all their hard work. Look out, basketball starts tomorrow!

P.S. We just found out that Jeremy got first team offense for outside linebacker and first team defense for defensive end, even though they put Matthew's name instead of his on accident.
